Happy Thursday, Beach and Bay!
By now, I’m sure we’re all feeling the sting of rising gas prices. The war in Iran is causing oil markets to spike, driving up costs of fuel. This affects everything from air travel to shipping to the gas you put in your car. We know San Diego is one of the most expensive cities in the country, but our gas prices are well above average too.
According to AAA, the average price of gas here is $5.94 per gallon for regular unleaded. That’s higher than the statewide average of $5.88, and there’s no sign of prices dropping any time soon.
If you’re trying to get the best deal, GasBuddy has a tool to help you find the cheapest gas in your area. As of Tuesday, the best deal in 92109 is currently at San Diego Gasoline on Ingraham Street.
GasBuddy’s analysis from February 2026 showed that Sundays and Mondays are typically the best days to buy gas in California. Prices tend to rise mid-week, and you’ll often find the highest gas prices on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. That’s an easy incentive to fill up at the start of the week.
Of course if you’re trying to save on gas, walking and biking are accessible (and climate-friendly!) options. We’re fortunate to live in such a walkable neighborhood where the weather makes it easy to spend time outside.
Stay safe out there!
