Good morning, San Diego.

The rain and snow have one last blast ready for us today and maybe tomorrow, and then it’s on to a drier weekend before precipitation is due to return again.

It looks like it might be a very green spring. At the very least, Lake Hodges is so full the city has to release water into the San Dieguito River for safety purposes.

In less good news, the American public is feeling a major loss of faith in elections, according to UCSD researchers. Surveys respondents cited heightened political rhetoric and fears around ICE as major concerns ahead of the upcoming midterms.

While you’re here, take a look at our new homepage: we think the light redesign makes it less cluttered and easier to highlight our top stories at a given time. But hey, we’re biased, so let us know what you think.

Speaking of biases, I’m taking advantage of this space to promote my favorite cause, an event that my beloved Oak Park Branch Library volunteer group is throwing this Saturday for Black History Month. While I can’t cover stories about what we’re doing there due to conflicts of interest, other local journalists at other places have been writing about some of our extraordinary guests. (You can read about them here and here.)

Hope to see you there. Otherwise, enjoy your weekend — and stay warm!
