Hello, Beach and Bay!
What is your favorite place for art around town? A creator I follow recently posted her guide to scheduling the perfect weekend for a mental reset. One of the key tenets is to practice a hobby you enjoy every week. Lately, I’ve been feeling drawn to create art. I took a few watercolor classes at The Artist Outpost in Ocean Beach (check them out!), but I’m putting together a list of creative spaces to explore in Pacific and Mission Beach.
I recently sat down with the owners of The Music Company, a musical paradise for anyone that wants to play with sound.
Medina Art Studios hosts artists in residence within their community coworking space. It’s also become a popular destination for local events like drawing classes and comedy shows. Recent reports show just 10 minutes of drawing can help to reset your nervous system.
Cool Creations and Forms Ceramics Studio are great options if you want to try pottery. Both offer beginner classes and adult pottery courses. It can feel so rewarding to build something with your hands, and pottery is a great way to practice.
Have I missed any? For a community so full of art, I’m surprised we don’t have more dedicated spaces for artistic expression.
When the long-awaited PB Arts Center makes its debut, it promises to be a hub for our community’s expanding network of artists. A fundraising dinner in June generated $185,000 in donations and sponsorships toward renovations to the old Pacific Beach Library building.
