Happy Thursday, Beach and Bay!

Thank you to everyone who came out to meet us at The Broken Yolk last week. As journalists, there’s real value in hearing directly from the community about the issues that matter most. We gathered great tips and story ideas, some of which may make their way into this newsletter.

One of those ideas comes from the work of Beautiful Pacific Beach, which is raising awareness about street safety following several fatal traffic accidents in recent months. The group is building support to push the city to implement stronger safety measures.

As part of that effort, they’re hosting a “Slow Jam” demonstration this Sunday at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Fanuel Street. The event starts at 11 a.m. and will include music and sign-making to encourage safer driving on neighborhood streets.

There are so many community organizations doing important work in our area. If there’s a cause you’re passionate about, I’d love to hear about it. Send me a note at beachandbayhost@gmail.com.

I hope you have a great weekend, neighbors!

P.S. If you’ve been following the Artemis II moon mission, you may have heard that on its return to Earth Friday evening, the capsule is expected to splash down off the coast of San Diego. It may not be visible from shore due to weather or distance, but it’s still an exciting moment in San Diego history. NASA will livestream the return, and if you’re looking to watch with others, the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park is hosting a family pajama party for the splashdown. It’s free with museum admission and discounted after 4p.m.!
