Good morning, Uptown!

This week I am excited to share that Candlelight Concerts are returning to our neighborhood with a list of new and returning artists, who will have their songs covered under the glow of candlelight by a complete string orchestra.
In March the ensemble will dedicate three performances to Latin American artists in a celebration of diversity, and an acknowledgment of our city’s growing appreciation for Latin music.
Since the early 2000s, Latin artists have been taking over the music scene in the United States, and San Diego is a hot-spot for Latin American music due to its deeply-rooted Hispanic culture and proximity to Tijuana. Following Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance, which set a record for being the most watched halftime show in history, the genre is showing no signs of slowing down.
Between March 12 and 27, there are three opportunities to attend one of the performances paying tribute to Bad Bunny, Mexican pop icon Juan Gabriel, and Jose Jose aka “The Prince of Song.” From reggaeton to romantic ballads, Candlelight Concerts are putting their own spin on some of the most beloved songs in the Spanish language in an event you can’t miss.
