Coming together for safer streets

An intersection in Crown Point has become a dangerous spot for the neighborhood. On Saturday, a 6-year-old boy was killed while riding his bike across an alley near Ingraham Street and Pacific Beach Drive.

The details of what happened are heartbreaking, and the driver involved is now in custody. But neighbors say this stretch of Ingraham has been unsafe for a long time. If you live in the area, you’ve likely heard drivers and motorcyclists revving down the four-block strip between PB Drive and Grand Avenue. With no traffic-calming measures in place, many treat it like an open stretch of road rather than a neighborhood street.

In the past year alone, there have been multiple hit-and-runs, cyclists and motorcyclists struck and cars sideswiped.
