Checking in on your New Year’s resolutions

Unofficial studies report that nearly 90% of people give up on their New Year’s resolutions within the first two weeks. In fact, Jan. 17 is affectionately dubbed “Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day.” 

Many people leap at the chance to make big changes when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Day. However, it might be that unrealistic goals are getting in the way. If you’ve ever resolved to quit soda cold turkey or lose a certain number of pounds in just one month, this vicious cycle may sound familiar. 

Setting smaller, milestone goals could go a long way in making your resolution a reality. Luckily, our Navajo community can help with that.  

If one of your resolutions this year is to spend more time outdoors, grow your own food or connect with your community, look no further than the San Carlos Community Garden. 

All year long, SCCG will be holding monthly events and workshops taught by local gardening experts — allowing you to work your way up one session at a time.

If your thumb isn’t quite so green, you can enjoy the garden hands-free. Raise your Vitamin D with a free yoga class or simply bring a book and blanket.
