Today’s newsletter is presented by San Diego Music Awards.

Hello, Uptown!

One of the privileges of living in Uptown is our proximity to the historic Balboa Park, which is always buzzing with cultural events that highlight art, music and food. I have written about unique events hosted in Balboa Park before, and today I’m excited to tell you about yet another one happening this weekend: The San Diego Zoo Food, Wine & Brew.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is hosting its annual fundraising event that supports its efforts towards species conservation and environmental protection. The organization is recognized for its educational outreach programs, innovative “cage-free” installations, and successful endangered species recovery efforts, which saved the California Condor from the brink of extinction.

With the purchase of a ticket, guests will be able to sample over 100 restaurants, wineries and breweries located throughout the zoo grounds. The event will feature live musical performances and activities, making for an upbeat, entertaining evening that celebrates the zoo’s dedication towards wildlife preservation.
