Hello, Uptown!

The end of Mother’s Day does not mean it’s time to stop family outings that provide an opportunity to explore our city and everything it has to offer while spending time with loved ones. Our neighborhood’s very own Balboa Park is always vibrant with activities that expose its visitors to different cultures, food and traditions. This weekend, it’s proud to host The Asian Pacific Cultural Festival San Diego, a free event for the entire family.

On Friday, May 16, the International Cottages at Balboa Park will host food vendors, craftspeople, musicians, dancers and interactive activities. Guests are able to choose from a variety of food choices while attending performances demonstrating Asian Pacific culture. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to all ages.

The festival is held yearly in honor of Pacific American Heritage Month, which takes place throughout May. The theme for 2026, selected by the Federal Asian Pacific American Council, is “Power In Unity: Strengthening Communities Together,” which reminds us of the importance of working together towards a common cause. The Asian Pacific community includes Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders.
