Hello, Navajo and College Area!
Nominations for the 2026 College Area Choice Awards are open now through May 24, with voting starting May 27.
With plenty of businesses to consider for each of the awards’ 10 categories, there is no shortage of great candidates. From “Best Restaurant” to “Favorite Tattoo Shop,” you can nominate a business in one category or make your picks for all 10.
Voting will close June 14, and the annual awards ceremony will take place shortly after on June 25 at Majorette — something College Area Business District Executive Director Jim Schneider says is his favorite part of the award season.
“We host the College Area Choice Award celebration in one of the businesses to kind of get a little help for the business,” he said. “To bring the community together, the neighbors and the businesses in one place, one time at the end of the year and just kind of celebrate all the great work that the businesses do and show the support of the community.”
The annual College Area Choice Awards have celebrated our small businesses for well over a decade. Every year, Schneider said, businesses receive hundreds of nominations and thousands of votes, with an average of 15 local spots taking home a title.
“It’s a good way for the neighborhood to recognize the wonderful businesses of the College Area Business District and to be able to select their favorites and just recognize all the hard work that the small businesses do here,” Schneider said.
The Mission Times Courier will also announce the winners of its Best of Mission Times contest in June, so stay tuned to this newsletter next month!
