Fans of Comic-Con International know that tickets to the insanely popular superhero/pop arts-driven convention have been sold out since Nov. 15. Or have they?
Not if you have $1,900 to drop on a Legend-level membership to the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park. Each membership comes with one four-day (plus Preview Night) pass to the Con.
Comic-Con is at the San Diego Convention Center July 23-26. It annually draws more than 130,000 attendees. That’s not counting the tens of thousands of onlookers who trek downtown to hang around outside the convention center. It’s nearly just as fun watching cosplayers vamp down Fifth Avenue and participating in dozens of free outdoor activations.
It’s a mad race every year to buy tickets online. Return attendees are given special consideration. If you can get one, a regular four-day badge with Preview Night costs $361.
That Legend membership at the Comic-Con Museum also comes with some other perks: free general admission for museum visits, one private docent tour per year and discounts on other museum events.
Perhaps best of all, you are first in line for next year to renew the membership and once again score that sweet, albeit expensive, Comic-Con convention ticket.
This year, among thousands of untold delights, you’ll get to see the return of Marvel Studios to Hall H and revisit Sigourney Weaver’s relationship to parasitic extraterrestrial babies in “Aliens” for the film’s 40th anniversary.
