Hello, Uptown!

After watching the Super Bowl at a sports bar downtown, I realized I wouldn’t mind making a visit to a sports bar a weekly outing, even if there is something intimidating about a space that has generally been “for the boys.” However, San Diego is officially welcoming the city’s very first women’s sports bar that is striving for a welcoming environment for all: One Of Us.

One Of Us is described by its owners as a place for everyone in the community to come together and celebrate the achievements of women in sports. This coincides with the massive surge in popularity that women’s sports are currently experiencing with record-breaking viewership numbers. Which could be a reflection of our admiration for specific athletes such as basketball’s Caitlin Clark or rugby’s Ilona Maher. Recently, San Diego has gained new women’s sports teams in both soccer and volleyball, which has continued to attract local fans.

After almost a year of chatter around the bar, which will be one of only a dozen women’s sports bars in the country, it will be opening by mid 2026. It will be located on 3085 University Ave., where URBN currently stands but is set to close down after 15 years.

As collegiate basketball’s March Madness approaches and the 2026 F1 Academy season kicks off, you’re right on time to take on a new interest in women’s sports. Truth is, even if you don’t understand the technicality of the sport playing out on the screen, there’s something incredibly addicting about watching it unfold, and reacting in unison with those around you.

Follow One Of Us on Instagram to stay updated on the official grand opening!
