Good morning, San Diego.
Welcome to the best day of the year!
No, I’m not talking about the April Fool’s Day shame hangover some might be dealing with today. I’m also not talking about International Fact-Checking Day, which is today as well, scheduled deliberately for the April Fool fallout so that everyone can confidently declare that they weren’t fooled at all. (Yeah, right.)
As you can see, I’m not a huge fan of either. But April 2 has many iterations, which brings me to why today is the best day: It’s National Burrito Day!
That’s right folks, we have an entire day dedicated to celebrating one of greatest food inventions on the planet.
But wait, there’s more! Not only is this day dedicated to the delights of burritos of all stripes, it’s also an opportunity to highlight the California burrito, which hails from right here in San Diego. Our Drew Sitton has much more — including where you can find burrito deals all day today.
Go forth and eat!
There’s more good news today, especially for those of you who live or hang out in South Park. A mysterious, seemingly abandoned vacant area strewn with weeds and trash over by the mini-Target lot may soon get developed. The owner of the space says he has plans for construction there.
You can read more about that from our intern, Mireya Miner… maybe over a nice breakfast burrito.
