Marines from the San Diego-based Boxer Amphibious Ready Group boarded a ship in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday to enforce the renewed blockade against Iranian shipping.

Central Command released video of the armed Marines dropping from helicopters onto the M/T Wen Yao, a crude oil tanker previously sanctioned by the United States.

The personnel are from the Camp Pendleton-based 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and are deployed with the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer and its accompanying warships.

Centcom said that since the renewal of the blockade on Tuesday, American forces have redirected three commercial vessels, disabled one with missiles and have now boarded one.

Also on Thursday, U.S. forces began a wave of strikes against Iran for the sixth consecutive night to further degrade that country’s military capabilities. The targets reportedly included bridges and rail lines used to transport missiles.

The Boxer and accompanying amphibious ships USS Portland and USS Comstock left San Diego in March and arrived in the Middle East on June 30.
