As Southern California’s only Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries-accredited facility, Lions Tigers & Bears provides a lifelong home to more than 60 rescued animals, including lions, tigers, bears and other exotic species.
“We’re excited to welcome the San Diego community to Lions Tigers & Bears,” said Bobbi Brink, founder and director. “We are here to educate the public about the dangers of the exotic animal trade and the urgent need to rescue animals living in dire conditions.”
This summer, the sanctuary is offering a variety of experiences that give guests an inside look at the lives of rescued animals and the larger issues that affect them in both captivity and the wild.
Educational experiences
From educational field trips to the Member-for-a-Day program, children and their guardians or parents will participate in meaningful learning experiences centered on wildlife rescue and humane animal care. Each child receives an interactive activity card designed to guide them through the sanctuary while reinforcing key lessons about compassion, respect and responsible stewardship. Completed cards can be redeemed for fun stickers!
Guided visits
Guests are invited to join guided walking visits through the sanctuary, where they’ll meet rescued animals, hear powerful rescue stories, and witness firsthand about the care they now receive. Each tour is led by a knowledgeable guide, offering insights into the animals’ journeys and the broader issues affecting wildlife today.
Behind-the-scenes
For those seeking a more in-depth experience, Lions Tigers & Bears offers private behind-the-scenes tours led by experienced keepers and trained visit guides. Guests will enter the animal care or habitat perimeter and assist in feeding sessions, offering a rare opportunity to interact with the animals in a safe and respectful setting. This experience, designed for guests 18 and older, starts at $500 for two people.
Stay the night
Discover the inner workings of a true accredited sanctuary and ranch with the “Stay the Night” experience. Nestled beside the habitats of rescued tigers Moka and Nola, guests will enjoy exclusive overnight accommodations at the beautiful White Oak property. As the sun sets, guests can grab a lantern and explore the sanctuary for a rare after-dark experience with the animals.
