On July 25, San Diego Gives, one of the county’s largest fundraising campaigns, returns for the fourth year, with 179 participating non-profit organizations from across the county.

This year, San Diego Gives’ campaign theme is “This is What a Philanthropist Looks Like.” The six-week campaign, running until Sept. 5, will share the story of a local philanthropist or non-profit volunteer, highlighting the diversity of citizens giving back to their communities.

The campaign involves over 179 non-profit organizations, ranging from food and hygiene banks, to programs for low-income students. Organizations include San Diego Humane Society & SPCA,  Feeding San Diego, San Diego Habitat for Humanity, YMCA, the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos and Vista, and more.

According to the USD Nonprofit Institute Annual Report, 83% of San Diegans have benefited from non-profit services in the past year. San Diego Gives provides funding opportunities for organizations that may be overlooked by uniting hundreds of non-profit organizations under one campaign.

Businesses and individuals can participate in San Diego Gives, by donating to the “Love Them All Fund” that supports all participating organizations or directly contributing to an individual nonprofit .

The campaign has seen a steady increase in donors each year, starting with 2,385 donors in 2021 and reaching more than 4,300 donors in 2023.

Since its foundation in 2021 by the North County Philanthropy Council (NCPC), a membership association of non-profit stakeholders and corporate philanthropists, San Diego Gives has raised over $2.9 million for over 500 local nonprofits. This year, San Diego Gives is hoping to raise more than $1.5 million.

In addition to fundraising efforts, San Diego Gives assists organizations in special volunteer events throughout the month of August, introducing local non-profits to new volunteers.
