The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency on Thursday reported 3,209 new cases of COVID-19 and 22 more deaths.
With the new data, local case totals rose to 706,039, while officials have recorded 4,757 deaths.
New hospitalizations jumped again, by 98, with four more patients admitted to intensive care.
Locally, officials also reminded residents to be vaccinated due to elevated COVID deaths in the region.
Meanwhile, people enrolled in Medicare can begin to get free over-the-counter COVID-19 tests starting in early spring, federal officials said Thursday.
The Biden administration laid out plans last month that require private insurance companies to cover the cost of eight such tests per person each month. Until now, the government had said nothing about coverage for seniors in Medicare.
