The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District was honored with a “Partnership of the Decade Award” from the East County Economic Development Council at its recent 40th Anniversary Gala.

Grossmont-Cuyamaca was recognized as a standout partner for its instrumental role in supporting local business and educational initiatives that provide career pathways for students and economic growth for the community, officials said.

Among the EDC and District’s collaborative efforts are programs such as Career Technical Education and Workforce Development, the Small Business Development Center and the Manufacturing Day Expo.

“As I think about what makes this partnership so important, it is that we are united by a shared vision to support growth and prosperity in East County,” Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District Chancellor Lynn Ceresino Neault said. “Everyone who represents East County companies, organizations and community groups, has partnered with us and supported our students through internships, mentorships, scholarships and employment.”

Both Neault and Whisenhunt have made lasting contributions to education and community service in East County. Chancellor Neault, a veteran educator with more than 40 years of experience, has focused on expanding access to higher education, particularly for underserved groups. President Whisenhunt, with over two decades in higher education leadership, has been instrumental in promoting equity-based initiatives and innovative class offerings that serve the region’s diverse populations.
