A brush fire in the far reaches of North County had burned about two acres of brush Thursday before firefighters gained control, according to Cal Fire.
The Crosley Fire near the Riverside County border was first reported at 11:48 a.m. at state Highway 79 and Crosley Truck Trail, according to Robert Johnson of Cal Fire. Crews stopped the forward progress of the blaze shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Although no major communities are located in the area, there were structural threats, Johnson said. but no immediate reports of injuries.
The fire erupted amid soaring temperatures, coupled with lower humidity levels and winds that could feed the flames, he said.
The cause has not been determined.
