Overview: Hotel Circle shooting

The victim's family and the prosecutor did not object to the long delay, which was requested by Larin's attorney in San Diego Superior Court.

A man suspected of killing his coworker and wounding another just outside a hotel in the Hotel Circle area got a long trial delay on Feb. 24.

Kevin Casey Larin, 30, waived his right to have a speedy trial in the March 2025 fatal shooting of Damian Martinez, 19, who was killed as he sat inside a vehicle. It is now now scheduled to begin until Oct. 13.

The other coworker, Bailey Lorenzano, 24, got out of the truck and ran into the Handlery Hotel at 950 Hotel Circle N., where he was also shot. Lorenzano survived his injuries.

The victim’s family and the prosecutor did not object to the long delay, which was requested by Larin’s attorney in San Diego Superior Court.

Larin has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail without bail.

The trio had been traveling together for hours before the shooting. They then checked into a hotel, and the shooting followed purchases of alcohol in Mission Valley.
