The Carlsbad Police Department has arrested a 22-year- old man suspected of having assaulted women at the Calavera Preserve over a period of several weeks.

The suspect was identified as Felix Blanco of Oceanside, who was arrested Friday on suspicion of seven counts of assault and booked into the county’s Vista Detention Facility.

According to a news release, the CPD “received reports of a male subject riding an electric bicycle who allegedly approached female trail users from behind and struck their buttocks as he passed.”

On Friday, police officers responded to a similar reported assault at the Calavera Preserve and located “a suspect matching the description provided by the victim,” officials said. “Following an investigation, the suspect was taken into custody.”

According to an NBC7 report, Blanco is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Police are asking people who may have been an assault victim or have relevant information to contact Detective Nick Walker at nick.walker@carlsbadca.gov.
