An investigation was underway Monday into the ‘homicidal’ deaths of two people in San Diego’s Grant Hill neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers responded around 12:26 a.m. to reports of two bodies on the street in the 100 block of 27th Street near the intersection of Imperial Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Police said the man and woman, both in their late 20s to early 30s, were apparently victims of “homicidal violence.”

“Officers looked inside a vehicle parked near the victims and observed three young children, all under the age of two, seemingly unharmed inside,” Public Information Officer Lt. Ceasar Jimenez said in a statement.

The children were taken into protective custody, police said.

Detectives were in the area through the night and into the morning processing the scene and looking for witnesses.

Authorities urged anyone with further information to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
