A man found his wife fatally stabbed in a National City home on Wednesday afternoon, and the suspect was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

The stabbing took place at around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East Division Street, according to the National City Police Department.

Police said the victim’s husband found her in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds.

Upon arrival, officers said the suspect leapt out of a window on the second story of the home. He was caught after a brief on-foot pursuit, the department said.

The suspect, who was later identified as Noel Trevino, attempted to flee again but was caught again with a police dog. Trevino was booked into county jail on one count of homicide.

No motive has yet been established. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the National City Police Department at (619) 336-4411, or San Diego Crime Stoppers online or at (888) 580-8477.
