It took crews less than 20 minutes Friday to put out an electrical fire inside an Old Town eatery that had not yet opened for the day.

The non-injury fire broke out at about 9 a.m. Friday in a utility room at the popular Mexican restaurant Casa Guadalajara, 4105 Taylor St., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Firefighters were able to confine the flames to that room, spokesperson Candace Hadley said.

Since the blaze left the restaurant without electricity, it was closed for most of the day, according to a worker who answered the phone.

Power was restored in the late afternoon, however, and staffers planned to open the eatery in time for dinner service, he said.
