A man died Saturday after apparently losing control of his bicycle in Del Mar, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station arrived on the scene, in the 1900 block of Jimmy Durante Boulevard, just after 10 a.m.

They found an approximately 60-year-old man with serious injuries lying on the ground. Based on a preliminary investigation, deputies say the man lost control of his bicycle and crashed.

At this time, it appears no other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Deputies and paramedics attempted life-saving measures on the bicyclist. He was transported via ambulance to a hospital, where he later died.
