San Diego firefighters quickly extinguished a one-acre brush fire that ignited Friday afternoon along North Torrey Pines Road in the state reserve.

San Diego Fire-Rescue units were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. Friday to reports of a fire near Guy Fleming Trail in the reserve.

“One acre brush fire in Torrey Pines State Park has been stopped,” the department tweeted at 3:21 p.m. “No buildings threatened. Park evacuated with help of rangers. Please use caution in the area.”

A total of 62 personnel were assigned, along with five fire engines, four brush rigs, a water tender and three helicopters.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Crews from Poway and Encinitas assisted in the firefighting effort.
