An 18-year-old driver and his two passengers suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday when he lost control of a Honda Accord and crashed head-on into a Dodge Ram truck near the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
San Diego Police were dispatched at 4:12 p.m. to the 16000 block of San Pasqual Valley Road where they learned that a 54-year-old man was driving east in his Dodge Ram when the Honda crossed over double yellow lines and collided head-on.
Officer Robert Heims said the driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital with multiple femur fractures to both legs. His injuries, and those of the two passengers in the Honda, are considered life threatening.
Heims said it isn’t known whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
The police department’s traffic division is investigating the collision. Anyone with information was asked to call police at 858-495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
