A man was killed after an argument with two suspects at a homeless encampment in the Redwood Village neighborhood, one of whom produced a gun and shot him, police said Sunday.

The 29-year-old victim was shot at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday in the area of 54th Street and Chollas Parkway. Officers found the man lying in a ravine suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he died.

During their investigation, police discovered that the victim was involved in an argument with two males, when one of them pulled out a firearm and shot the victim, police said.

The two suspects possibly fled the scene eastbound in a light-colored vehicle, according to the SDPD. Detectives continue to search for evidence and additional witnesses.

The victim’s identity was being withheld pending family notification.
