A family of four was displaced when a blaze tore through a unit at a Ramona apartment complex and caused an estimated $200,000 in damage, authorities said Friday.
The noninjury fire was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday at an apartment building in the 600 block of 11th Street, according to Cal Fire San Diego.
Firefighters responded to the scene and found smokes and flames coming from a second-floor unit, Cal Fire San Diego spokesman Thomas Shoots said.
Nearby residents were evacuated and crews knocked down the flames within 10 minutes, he said.
The American Red Cross was contacted, but the four adults displaced by the blaze opted to stay with family members, Shoots said, adding that the fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to the structure and its contents.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
