Firefighters had to pull a woman out of a car she was trapped in following a head-on crash on a North County road Sunday morning.
The crash was first reported at 10:04 a.m., on El Camino Real between San Dieguito Road and Sea Country Lane, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The area is near the San Dieguito River and just west of Del Mar.
A 17-year-old boy was driving north on the road “at a high rate of speed” and struck a car being driven in the opposite direction by a 25-year-old woman, according to San Diego Police Officer Sarah Foster.
The woman’s car went off the side of the road, and responding crews worked to extricate her, according to information from Foster and San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Dave Pilkerton.
Firefighters were eventually able to get the woman out, and paramedics took the person to a hospital, where she was being treated for a fractured pelvis, Foster said.
The male driver was uninjured.
