A person of interest was taken into custody Saturday by sheriff’s detectives after a man was found shot to death on a sidewalk in unincorporated El Cajon.

The homicide was reported at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, in the 500 block of Danny Street, San Diego Sheriff‘s homicide Lt. Dan Brislin said.

The victim’s name was not released pending notification of kin, Brislin said.

Detectives found Richard James Gunner, 23, a parolee at large, who was considered armed and dangerous, at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, in a field near the Rio Seco Elementary School at 9545 Cuyamaca St. in Santee, Brislin said.

Gunner was taken into custody without incident by the Fugitive Task Force and will be booked into the San Diego Jail for a parole violation while the investigation continues, Brislin said.
