A motorcyclist was killed Friday in a crash on a winding back-country road in the far southern reaches of San Diego County.

The rider veered off state Route 94 in Campo for unknown reasons about 4:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist hit a roadside boulder near Church Road and tumbled back onto the roadway, coming to rest in an eastbound lane. The victim, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene.

There were no immediate indications that any other vehicles were involved in the crash, CHP public-affairs Officer Robert Catano said.
