A man who suffered severe head trauma during a brawl outside a North County convenience store last spring died this week from complications of his injuries, authorities reported Thursday.
Francisco Castro, 32, was pronounced dead at a hospital on Monday, according to sheriff’s officials.
Late on the afternoon of May 6, deputies responding to a fight involving a group of men found Castro unconscious on the ground next to a 7-Eleven in the 900 block of North Santa Fe Avenue in Vista, sheriff’s Lt. Kenn Nelson said.
Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding Castro’s belated death and believe that there are witnesses who have yet to come forward, according to Nelson.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
