A young man was assaulted and stabbed in the head by an unknown suspect in East Village early Saturday.

The San Diego Police Department said the attack happened at 3:42 a.m., when the 20-year-old victim was approached by the suspect in the 1300 block of K Street. His attacker tried to talk to him but he walked away.

The suspect followed him, punched him twice in the face, stabbed him in the head with a knife, and immediately fled the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for a minor wound to his head.

According to police, the suspect is a bearded Hispanic male in his early 20s who weighs approximately 170 pounds and was wearing a blue San Diego Padres shirt.
