A brief pursuit in Carlsbad early Wednesday ended in a crash that left the driver and several passengers injured.
California Highway Patrol tried to stop the driver of a Chevy Tahoe about 12:20 a.m., but the driver failed to yield and then crashed in the vicinity of Pio Pico and Buena Vista just east of Interstate 5, according to the CHP.
The injured driver was taken into custody, but was hospitalized, said CHP officer Tommy Doerr.
Officers searching the area following the crash found a gun that was possibly connected to the SUV, 10News reported.
