A 68-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Friday night while crossing a street in Vista.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department said the accident occurred around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of North Santa Fe Avenue and Angeles Vista Drive.

A Ford sedan was traveling southbound on North Santa Fe Avenue while the victim was crossing the street from the east. The driver told deputies he saw the man and tried to steer around but struck him.

Deputies reported the driver was not injured and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident. An investigation is underway.
