A skydiving instructor who collided with another jumper in midair was found dead Sunday near Otay Lakes outside of Jamul.
The unidentified man had been reported missing at 4:10 p.m. while skydiving out of a facility on Otay Lakes Road, according to sheriff’s Lt. Christine Robbins.
A sheriff’s department helicopter crew spotted his body shortly before 5 p.m., Robbins said.
The department was notified of the collision, a sheriff’s watch commander said.
Buzz Fink, the owner of Skydive San Diego, told reporters the man worked for the company as a contract employee and was teaching a group how to skydive when the incident occurred.
His parachute never opened, Fink said.
No other injuries were reported.
