Global music icon P!NK will “Get the Party Started” for a powerful cause as the headliner of Curebound‘s annual Concert for Cures on May 15 at Petco Park, organizers announced Monday.
Proceeds from ticket sales support San Diego-based Curebound’s mission to fund research to accelerate better prevention, detection and treatments for cancer.
Launched in 2022, the stadium benefit has quickly grown into one of the nation’s premier concerts for cancer research. Last year’s Elton John benefit concert brought in $11.5 million, making it the highest-grossing event for cancer research in San Diego’s history.
“At a time when national research funding remains uncertain, Curebound’s Concert for Cures plays a critical role in sustaining the tremendous momentum cancer research has achieved in recent years,” said Robin Toft, CEO of Curebound. “We are thrilled to welcome P!NK to San Diego and honored that she is lending her extraordinary talent to help Curebound fight this disease that has touched us all.”
Since its inception, Curebound has awarded $51.5 million in grants, backing 170 studies across 23 types of cancer and helping launch 30 expanded clinical trials reaching 1,864 patients. The organization says those investments have generated $161 million in follow-on funding.
The nonprofit funds research at six San Diego institutions: UC San Diego’s Moores Cancer Center, Rady Children’s Hospital, Salk Institute, Sanford Burnham Prebys, La Jolla Institute for Immunology and Scripps Research.
Curebound Board Chair Rick Valencia, who is co-chairing the concert organizing committee with his daughter, Aubrey Salvati, called the mission deeply personal.
“Cancer research isn’t just measured in funding or breakthroughs, it’s measured in the moments families get to keep,” Valencia said. “I’ve seen firsthand how urgently progress matters for families like mine. Many of the treatments and methods of detection and prevention available today didn’t exist five years ago. Research is what gives families time, options and hope. This night helps us fund that research.”
General ticket sales begin Feb. 27, with pre-sales starting Feb. 25. Some VIP tables will be available. Go to curebound.org to sign up for early access tickets.
