A 67-year-old actor and author whose super memory lets her recall every day of her life will be the headliner of the county’s public Vital Aging Conference.

Marilu Henner of “Taxi” fame will appear at the event Wednesday, June 19, at the San Diego Convention Center. Her keynote address will be simulcast to a companion site in North County at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.

The 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. event will explore ways older adults can improve their health and well-being through physical fitness, social connection, activities to help maintain cognitive function and self-care. Henner speaks at 12:15 p.m. in Hall B.

Resources and information for caregivers will also be available.

“Older adults and caregivers are such valuable members of our community,” said Kim Gallo, director of aging and independence services for the county Health and Human Services Agency. “Vital Aging serves to celebrate participants and empower them to live healthy, safe, and thriving lives.”

Besides her role as Elaine Nardo in the sitcom “Taxi, Henner has also been on “Dancing with the Stars” and “Celebrity Apprentice” and starred in numerous movies. She is a New York Times best-selling author and longtime advocate for healthier living.

Henner’s written nine books on health, diets and memory and hosts “The Marilu Henner Show” weekdays on more than a dozen radio stations across the country.

Parking at the Convention Center will be $5. Attendees can also take advantage of a free park and ride option in conjunction with MTS at SDCCU Stadium. There one can park for free and receive a free trolley day pass if you register in advance and select the park and ride option.
