Border Patrol agents arrested 43 migrants in three separate maritime smuggling events near San Diego over the weekend, authorities reported Tuesday.

The first was at 1:40 p.m. Sunday when a Coast Guard cutter encountered a vessel with 17 people aboard approximately one nautical mile west of Point Loma.

The second incident occurred at 4 p.m. when a multi-agency law-enforcement patrol spotted a boat dead in the water roughly a quarter mile west of Sunset Cliffs. After a search, the Border Patrol found 16 people aboard.

The last event was just an hour later when agents interdicted a 27-foot Sea Ray with 10 people aboard approximately 3 miles west of Point Loma.

The boats were all seized and those arrested transported to a Border Patrol station for processing.
