A 24-year-old San Bernardino man died Sunday after jumping out of a moving car on southbound Interstate 15 following an argument with his girlfriend, who was driving.
The 24-year-old driver told investigators that she and her boyfriend began arguing about 7:20 p.m. while approaching Deer Springs Road in a 2006 Scion with two young children inside, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt.
The man then “suddenly opened his door and jumped out of the vehicle,” Bettencourt said. No other vehicles were involved.
Responding CHP officers attempted to revive the man, but he died at the scene, Bettencourt said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
The driver and her children were later released from the scene. Bettencourt said the CHP was investigating the man’s death as a suicide.
