An 85-member delegation will visit Sacramento Tuesday to lobby state officials for legislation that benefits economic growth in San Diego.

The delegation is led by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, which visits the capital each year to discuss policy with state legislators. Members of the delegation plan to meet with new state officials including Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis and Treasurer Fiona Ma to address issues such as homelessness, international commerce and the 2020 political landscape.

“With a new administration in Sacramento, comes a new political landscape and legislative priorities and San Diego is at the center of many of the key issues state leaders are tackling such as housing and homelessness and the border,” chamber President and CEO Jerry Sanders said.

“This trip brings the diverse expertise and first-hand knowledge of San Diego’s business community directly to elected officials so they can understand how their decisions impact local business,” he added.

San Diego City Council members Jennifer Campbell, Chris Cate, Mark Kersey, Monica Montgomery, Vivian Moreno and Chris Ward will be part of the delegation as well as representatives from local companies and entities like Qualcomm, San Diego Gas & Electric and the Port of San Diego. The delegates are scheduled to return Wednesday.
