Times of San Diego has successfully removed malware that caused a spam website to open in a new tab when readers clicked on some article links.
The problem, which began Wednesday morning, was caused by malicious code in compromised advertisements placed by two reputable national networks.
The code was successfully removed overnight by our hosting company, WP Engine in Austin.
The concealed code caused a spam website named Fuse-Data.com to open in a new tab or window.
There were no reports of problems resulting from the spam links, but Times of San Diego regrets the inconvenience and thanks readers for their patience.
