The South Bay Community Change Project and the South Bay Youth 4 Change will host a forum Thursday for candidates running for mayor, the City Council and city attorney in Chula Vista.
The forum will focus on public safety and the prevention of drug and alcohol-related harm and abuse among Chula Vista youth. Students from High Tech High Chula Vista will have the chance to ask candidates questions during the event.
Incumbent Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas and her challenger Hector Gastelum top the bill of candidates expected to attend the event. Chula Vista City Council District 1 candidates John McCann and Mark Bartlett, City Council District 2 candidates Jill Galvez and Steve Stenberg and city attorney candidates Glenn Googins and Andrew Deddeh are also expected to participate in the forum.
NBC 7 San Diego journalist and Chula Vista resident Joe Little will moderate the forum. The event is free and Chula Vista residents are encouraged to come and hear from their local candidates.
The forum will be held at 6 p.m. at the Chula Vista Presbyterian Church.
