A woman was minorly injured when she was run over in an apparent hit-and-run Tuesday afternoon in Chula Vista, police said.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. after police received a call of a woman run over by a male driver at the Vista Hermosa Apartments complex in the 700 block of Street, Chula Vista police Lt. Gino Grippo said.
Prior to the accident, witnesses told a news photographer at the scene that the woman and male were arguing before the man got into the car and attempted to leave.
The woman then jumped on the hood of the car trying to stop the man from leaving. She fell off and was run over by the back wheel of the car.
The nature of the relationship between the two was unclear and police are currently investigating the incident as a hit-and-run, Grippo said. Police, however, have not ruled out domestic violence.
It appears the woman and the man knew each other, Grippo said.
The woman was transported to the UCSD Trauma Center. She was expected to recover.
Police are still talking to the woman to determined what happened.
