A man driving a truck on a business road in Lakeside Thursday struck and killed a pedestrian standing in the middle of the road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
It happened at 4:03 a.m. on an Interstate 8 business road near East Lakeview Road in Lakeside, CHP officer Tommy Doerr said.
The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene, Doerr said.
The driver of the blue Chevy truck was uninjured and remained on scene. Alcohol or drug impairment was not believed to be a factor, Doerr said.
No details about the victim were immediately released.
