Two 30-year-old men who were killed in a two separate motorcycle crashes this weekend were publicly identified Monday. One was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle; the other was killed by a drunken driver.

Shawn Cody Raupp of Santee was riding a 1996 Harley Davidson Sportster north in the 9500 block of Carlton Hills Boulevard, south of Mast Boulevard, at about 5:45 p.m. Friday and apparently lost control, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.

Witnesses reported seeing Raupp riding at a high rate of speed just prior to the crashing into a parked car, a curb and a telephone pole, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office and the sheriff’s department.

Raupp was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene, authorities said.

His riderless motorcycle continued northbound and became lodged underneath a parked vehicle, sheriff’s Sgt. Michelle McPhail said.

Ivan Vicente Angeles of San Marcos was riding his motorcycle south on Las Flores Drive about 1:20 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a Toyota 4Runner heading west on South Santa Fe Avenue, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office and the sheriff’s department.

Angeles was ejected from the motorcycle and struck the curb, according to sheriff’s Deputy Tammy Bennetts. His motorcycle came to a rest on the roadside. Angeles died at the scene, authorities said.

The driver of the Toyota 4Runner drove off following the crash, but deputies caught up to him about a quarter of a mile away, at the intersection of South Santa Fe Avenue and Bosstick Boulevard, Bennetts said.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, felony hit and run and drunken driving, Bennetts said. His name was not immediately released.
