Art, music, street fairs and a rodeo, it’s a great time to be outdoors this weekend. Here’s your guide.
Mission Federal ArtWalk
This weekend, 17 blocks of Little Italy will be transformed into one the largest fine arts festival in San Diego. The 34th annual ArtWalk will showcase artwork in every medium, including painting, sculpture, glasswork, photography and fine jewelry from more than 350 local, national and international emerging and established artists.
There is also live visual art performances, including musical acts, spoken word performances and interactive art activities for kids.
The Mission Federal ArtWalk goes from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and is free to attend.
Lakeside Rodeo
Giddy up, the Lakeside Rodeo is back into town.
The 54th annual event in East County will feature rides, bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing and more.
There is also the hilarious Kids Stick Horse Race at each performance.
The rodeo performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets range from $10 to $20.
Adams Avenue Unplugged
Here’s a great way to expand your music repertoire as well as discover some great local artists.
The Adams Avenue Business Association will host a free two-mile long musical walkabout this Saturday down Adams Avenue from University Heights to Kensington called Adams Avenue Unplugged.
The event features live music performances inside restaurants, bars, coffee houses and galleries lining the street. There is a free trolly service but bring comfortable shoes.
Adams Avenue Unplugged goes from noon to 10 a.m. Saturday and is free to attend.
Art Alive
Springtime means flowers will be bloom in a blaze of colors. It also means Art Alive is returning to The San Diego Museum of Art.
The museum will display more than 100 floral interpretations of art masterpieces. Created by top local and national designers, these floral interpretations are on display throughout the weekend.
The year, the event will honor the opening of Nancy Lorenz: Moon Gold.
Art Alive goes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $5 to $25 for non-members and free for museum members.
Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair
Experience culture and fun at the 33rd annual Multi-Cultural Fair in Linda Vista.
The San Diego neighborhood is home more than 22 languages, according to organizers, and all will be represented at the fair. The event includes live entertainment, children’s activities and plenty of ethnic bites. There is also a parade that starts at 11 a.m. to goes down Linda Vista Road from Genessee Avenue to Comstock Street.
The Multi-Cultural Fair takes place on Linda Vista Road from Comstock to Ulric streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Encinitas April Street Fair
Thousands of people will come together for the annual April Street Faire in downtown Encinitas.
The event features more than 450 international food vendors. Attendees can also expect plenty of kid-friendly activities, rides, live music, a dog zone and a beer garden.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Quintessential Craft Beer & Wine Festival
San Diegans are invited to attend La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary’s 5th annual Quintessential Craft Beer & Wine Festival on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nobel Athletic Fields on 8810 Judicial Drive.
The dog-friendly event features unlimited samples from over 30 local and regional breweries, distilleries and wineries, including Abnormal Beer Co., Ballast Point, Karl Strauss, Kilowatt, Second Chance and Blinking Owl Distillery.
Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door and $15 for active duty military. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit 45 local and international humanitarian projects stewarded by members of the club.
