Chef Brian Malarkey‘s latest restaurant concept will anchor the ground-floor retail space in the 42-story Pacific Gate condominium tower under construction downtown.
Animae, the latest from the chef who introduced Herringbone and Searsucker, will be a contemporary Asian-American restaurant that blends cuisines from Japan to Southeast Asia.
Malarkey’s restaurant partnership, Puffer Malarkey Restaurants, is developing Animae in the luxury residential tower located at Broadway and Pacific Highway.
“Inspired by travels, Animae will bring the sophistication of Asian cuisine and design to San Diego with the approachability and excitement our venues provide,” said partner Christopher Puffer.
The partnership is behind the successful Green Acre, Farmer & The Seahorse, Herb & Eatery and nationally acclaimed Herb & Wood restaurants in San Diego.
Nat Bosa, president of Bosa Development, said the new restaurant will help define the tower as a must-see destination.
“As the waterfront neighborhood continues to grow, Pacific Gate and Animae will provide original experiences for downtown residents and those who visit the area,” said Bosa.
