Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers was cleared by an independent neurological consultant to play in Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills at StubHub Center.
Rivers self-reported concussion symptoms Monday and was placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol, which requires clearance by an independent neurological consultant to return to play.
Rivers fully participated in Friday’s practice at the Hoag Performance Center in Costa Mesa, as he did on Thursday. He practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.
“He looked good today,” coach Anthony Lynn said. “He looked like his self.”
Rivers has played every offensive play this season and started every Chargers regular-season game since the start of the 2006 season, 185 consecutive games.
